Why Does a Guitar Go Out of Tune?
The Truth About Why Your Guitar Doesn't Stay In TuneThe reasons that your guitar won’t stay in tune are the strings, the tuners, the nut, the bridge, the tailpiece, the temperature and the humidity.HOWEVER, the most likely cause of going out of tune occurs at the nut, AND THAT IS OUR FOCUS at Sta-Tuned. “I have been playing the guitar for over 60 years and I just got tired of constantly re-tuning my guitar during and after every song!” Being a design engineer, I found out by focusing on this problem, that guitars go out of tune while playing primarily because of friction at the nut. No one has really addressed this problem until now. Strings will always move microscopically at the nut while you play even if you never use your vibrato or whammy bar. It’s much worse if you do. There Are Only Two Ways To Keep a Guitar From Going Out of TuneMETHOD 1PREVENT THE STRINGS FROM MOVING AT ALL THROUGH THE NUT. The Sta-Tuned String-Lock used in conjunction with a fine tuner installed at the back of the guitar will eliminate these problems. METHOD 2 ALLOW THE STRINGS TO MOVE FREELY THROUGH THE NUT. The Sta-Tuned String-Release for flat top guitars does not need a fine tuner. It just clips onto the strings. METHOD #1 WORKS THE BEST Guitars will eventually all go out of tune because wood is affected by temperature and humidity. Guitars should not go out of tune while playing, string bending or when you are playing with the vibrato. Tuning That Stays Put and No Alteration To Your InstrumentMost guitars are quite expensive and should stay in tune and not be altered. You will not have to alter your guitar in any way with our products. Playing out of tune becomes more noticeable the better we get at playing the guitar. It is especially important to play in tune when recording as it is permanent. Here, with our Sta-Tuned accessories, you will find a solution that best fits your particular instrument set up and solves your tuning problems. “Chet Atkins despised playing out of tune” |
